Depleted uranium threatens thousands of lives in Basra, government turns blind eye –researcher :: from www.uruknet.info :: news from occupied Iraq - it:

"'Basra has experienced an unprecedented rise in solid cancer cases during the past four years: 62 cases per 100,000 persons compared to 35 in 1997,' Vartanian explained.

Exposure to military depleted uranium (DU) pollution has not only increased solid cancer cases in the province, but caused severe birth deformities in newborn babies, he added. 'Other cases of renal failure, skin disease, allergy, infertility and recurrent miscarriages were also attributed to DU pollution,' he indicated, adding that most of the reported cases were close to the contaminated sites."

CRIMES AND CORRUPTION OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER NEWS: Ron Paul Wins Five Straw Polls, Mainstream Media Remains Silent

WHY BUREAUCRATS MAKE SO MANY REGULATIONS

Says the bureaucrat Floyd Ferris: "You honest men are such a problem and such a headache. But we knew you'd slip sooner or later . . . [and break one of our regulations] . . . this is just what we wanted."

Rearden: "You seem to be pleased about it."

Bureaucrat Ferris: "Don't I have good reason to be?"

Rearden: "But, after all, I did break one of your laws."

Bureaucrat Ferris: "Well, what do you think they're there for?"

Continues bureaucrat Ferris: "Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed? We want them broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against . . . We're after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you'd better get wise to it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted [Frederick Mann: Obfuscation of meaning is a key element of the con games bureaucrats and politicians play.] - and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Rearden, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."

Family Security Matters

The wisest course would have been for President Bush to use his nuclear weapons to slaughter Iraqis until they complied with his demands, or until they were all dead. Then there would be little risk or expense and no American army would be left exposed. But if he did this, his cowardly electorate would have instantly ended his term of office, if not his freedom or his life.

President Bush can fail in his duty to himself, his country, and his God, by becoming “ex-president” Bush or he can become “President-for-Life” Bush: the conqueror of Iraq, who brings sense to the Congress and sanity to the Supreme Court.

Needless to say FSM (A neo-con fearmongering site aimed at 'moms') removed this story after the mail started pouring in. People aren't ready for this type of article yet... but it will return after the next 'inevitable' attack that neo-cons keeps saying they want to happen. I expect this attack to hit the west coast, in order to get the 'liberals' thinking right about the war on terror. --DAVIN

Americans may need passports to board domestic flights or to picnic in a national park next year if they live in one of the states defying the federal Real ID Act.

The act, signed in 2005 as part of an emergency military spending and tsunami relief bill, aims to weave driver's licenses and state ID cards into a sort of national identification system by May 2008. The law sets baseline criteria for how driver's licenses will be issued and what information they must contain.

Jury finds Padilla guilty on terror charges - CNN.com

After 5+ years of torture to the point of turning him into a drooling idiot this is what they came up with. It should be pointed out that DIRTY BOMBS DON'T WORK. Experts in the US military tried to develop them but gave up when tests showed they were easy to clean up and other than the initial blast they wouldn't hurt anyone (see Power of Nightmares with interviews on the topic). Anyone trying to build one would find this fact out, as it only takes 20 secs of googling 'Dirty Bomb'. Making one brings the risk of detection and self-contamination with no benefit - noone in their right mind would even try.

Even our friends at the CFR acknowledge they don't work, but still push them as a threat... in the same article even:

Is a dirty bomb a weapon of mass destruction? Yes, but more because of its capacity to cause terror and disruption than its ability to inflict heavy casualties. Depending on the sophistication of the bomb, wind conditions, and the speed with which the area of the attack was evacuated, the number of deaths and injuries from a dirty bomb explosion might not be substantially greater than from a conventional bomb explosion. But panic over radioactivity and evacuation measures could create chaos. Moreover, the area struck would be off-limits during cleanup efforts, effectively paralyzing a local economy and reinforcing public fears.

The government is taking that position in seeking the dismissal of federal court lawsuits against the government and AT&T over its alleged involvement in the once-secret surveillance program adopted after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. The strategy was first recognized by the U.S. Supreme Court in a McCarthy-era lawsuit. It has been increasingly invoked in a bid to shield the government from legal scrutiny.

Ron Paul 2008: Romney Leadership Team Member Overseeing Straw Poll

They are claiming of course, that there is nothing to worry about since the voting procedure will be conducted with the assistance and oversight of the Story County Auditor's Office.

If we look here we see the Story County Auditor is Mary Mosiman. Mary Mosiman also happens to be on Mitt Romney's "Romney for President Leadership Team". So there you have it, the Story County Auditor who will take part in overseeing the voting on the questionable machines is part of a team dedicated to "help Governor Romney share his vision for America".

Global warming? Look at the numbers

It's been really hot lately -- abnormally hot -- so we all need to be afraid, very afraid. The trouble is, it's no longer true.

Last week, NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies -- whose temperature records are a key component of the global-warming claim (and whose director, James Hansen, is a sort of godfather of global-warming alarmism) -- quietly corrected an error in its data set that had made recent temperatures seem warmer than they really were.

A little less than a decade ago, the U.S. government changed the way it recorded temperatures. No one thought to correlate the new temperatures with the old ones, though -- no one until Canadian researcher Steve McIntyre, that is.

Another blow to the CO2 craze. Throw this on the fire with items like CO2 increases happening 100s of years AFTER tempurature increases (Gore failed to mention), stranded polar bears, and the southern hemisphere's cooling trend. - DAVIN

"If you think the U.S. has only 160,000 troops in Iraq, think again. With almost no congressional oversight and even less public awareness, the Bush administration has more than doubled the size of the U.S. occupation through the use of private war companies. There are now almost 200,000 private 'contractors' deployed in Iraq by Washington. This means that U.S. military forces in Iraq are now outsized by a coalition of billing corporations whose actions go largely unmonitored and whose crimes are virtually unpunished."

"ONE MONTH from The Anniversary, I'm thinking another 9/11 would help America.

What kind of a sick bastard would write such a thing?

A bastard so sick of how splintered we are politically - thanks mainly to our ineptitude in Iraq - that we have forgotten who the enemy is.

It is not Bush and it is not Hillary and it is not Daily Kos or Bill O'Reilly or Giuliani or Barack. It is global terrorists who use Islam to justify their hideous sins, including blowing up women and children.

Iraq has fractured the U.S. into jigsaw pieces of competing interests that encourage our enemies. We are deeply divided and division is weakness."

Who are the terrorists again? This guy is suggesting that we need to be terrified/murdered in order to change our political views. The definition of terrorism again please? Also, sans this suggested attack... who are our enemies? Other than a highly suspicious 9-11 attack (followed by mail bio attacks that led right to US labs) we have not been attacked. All of our current enemies are enemies of Israel, and as soon as we pack up and come home they will cease to be enemies. -DAVIN

Steve applied this same train of logic to other, more worldly scenarios. Child kidnapping for example - apparently American parents are paranoid about kidnapping, and so forbid their children to talk to strangers. The result, according to Steve, is a generation which can't ask for help when the only source of help is a stranger, and a general and unacceptable reduction in human interaction which is the basis of any civilised society.
